Optional-study-group -- WG14 study group for the _Optional qualifier

About Optional-study-group
English (USA)

At the 72nd meeting of WG14 in Graz, the committee voted to submit a new work item for a TS (technical specification) describing the _Optional qualifier, and create a study group to work on the TS.

_Optional is new type qualifier for the purpose of adding pointer nullability information to C programs. It provides value not only for static analysis and documentation, but also for translators which report errors based only on existing type-compatibility rules. The syntax and semantics are designed to be as familiar (to C programmers) and ergonomic as possible. In contrast, existing solutions are incompatible, confusing, error-prone, and intrusive.
